Cat Trees: Planning Floor Space, Height and Assembly
Choosing cat trees for a product range involves more than comparing overall height. Floor space, the position of platforms and hammocks, and the assembly information all affect how clearly a buyer can evaluate a design. A useful sourcing brief records these points against the exact model, so the sample and the eventual product listing describe the same structure.
Two products in HBYT's Cat Furniture range illustrate different planning questions: a multi-level tree with stairs and a floor-to-ceiling model with a hammock. The comparison below uses their existing specifications, with dimensions in centimetres.
Compare the floor plan and listed height
| Existing model | Listed dimensions | What to establish in the brief |
|---|---|---|
| Multi-Level Wooden Cat Tree with Stairs YTP-2-00001 | 40 × 100 × 141 cm; listed post diameter 6.5 cm. | Orientation of the longer side, stair access and the assembled layout. |
| Floor-to-Ceiling Cat Tree with Hammock YTP-2-00011 | 40 × 40 cm footprint; listed height range 255–265 cm; post diameter 11.5 cm. | Site measurements, hammock position and the model's ceiling and fixing requirements. |
Describe the space around the product
For the stair model, mark the 40 × 100 cm layout on a simple floor plan and indicate which side faces the room. Include the approach to the stairs and the position of nearby furniture in your drawing. Ask for a dimensioned assembled view if the catalogue image does not show whether a platform, fabric element or accessory extends beyond the quoted footprint.
For a retail display, record the available display width, depth and height. For an end-customer installation guide, identify which site measurements the purchaser will need to take. These are different uses for dimensional information, so state whether the drawing is intended for store planning, product photography or customer instructions.
Review the ceiling interface for the exact model
YTP-2-00011 has a listed 255–265 cm height range. Use this as a product specification to discuss alongside the measured installation space. Ask for the current installation instructions, the supported fixing arrangement, the relevant ceiling requirements and a clear description of how the selected configuration is adjusted.
Have the supplier identify the attachment parts and any tools or additional components required for the proposed installation. A photograph and a height range are not a complete installation specification. If the intended market uses a different instruction language, include that requirement in the documentation brief before the packaging artwork is approved.
Keep material and assembly descriptions aligned
The stair model lists 9 mm veneered MDF, paper-tube posts and jute rope. Its wooden appearance should therefore be described alongside those actual materials. This helps a buyer distinguish the panel finish from the panel construction when selecting a custom color or comparing designs.
Request a component list linked to the chosen item number, together with an assembly sequence and labelled part references. During sample review, check that the listed parts correspond to the assembled layout, and record any requested changes to stairs, platforms or the hammock. The installation information should be reviewed again when the configuration changes.
Relate assembled size to the carton
The current carton dimensions are 41 × 61 × 23 cm for YTP-2-00001 and 62 × 42 × 32 cm for YTP-2-00011, each listed at one unit per carton. Keep these packing measurements separate from the assembled dimensions. Confirm the packed component arrangement and the location of the instruction sheet when reviewing a sample or a custom version.
Quick questions
Does the 255–265 cm range confirm every ceiling is suitable?
No. Suitability requires the actual site measurements and the fixing and ceiling requirements for that model's approved installation.
Can the layout be customized?
HBYT supports customization. Send the requested layout changes and dimensions so the structure, assembly information and packing can be reviewed together.
Send a space and assembly brief
Discuss your selected cat tree with HBYT and include the item number, quantities, floor plan, available height and any requested layout or instruction changes.
