Custom Pet Product Development: Project Planning Guide

Start with a Product Brief

Choose whether the project begins with an existing HBYT item, a modification to an existing design, or a new concept. Record the target market, intended use, quantity by model and the changes you want reviewed before requesting a quotation.

HEBEI YAOTU is a pet products manufacturer supporting brand owners, retailers and e-commerce sellers. Through our factories, we provide OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) and ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) support, from specification review and sampling to production follow-up and packaging.

Choose the Product Family and Specifications

Use the product category and item number to anchor the discussion. Review the relevant materials, dimensions, components and packaging for that family; the selected requirements form the basis of sample review and quotation.

Pet Beds and Cat Enclosures

Pet Beds and Mats: Compare cover fabrics, filling structures, sleeping area, overall dimensions and removable-cover designs. Our factories can review requested fabric, size and shape changes for the selected bed.

Indoor Cat Enclosures: Buyers can propose changes to layout, dimensions, panels, doors and finishes. Our team reviews the structure, assembly and materials with you before sample approval and production.

Cat Furniture and Dog Toys

Cat Trees and Scratchers: Our range brings together scratching, climbing and resting designs. For a customized project, define the overall height, platforms, post construction, scratching surfaces, colors and assembly requirements.

Dog Toys: Explore chew-toy shapes, interactive designs and squeaky toys. Specify the materials, construction, intended animal size and required testing so that the sample and product claims can be reviewed together.

Travel and Pet Hygiene Products

Dog Harnesses and Collars: Define the size range, webbing or other material, hardware, adjustment method and logo placement. Reflective details and branding methods can be reviewed as part of the selected design.

Pet Hygiene Products: Compare the current litter-box layouts, litter scoop and training pad by dimensions, materials, access and packing requirements. Identify the selected item and any requested changes in the project brief.

Agree on Scope Before Sampling

Concept and Design Review

Share your concept, intended use and target market. Our team will review the design direction, materials, construction and sample requirements with you, and identify which elements need further development.

Use the concept review checklist to separate confirmed requirements from decisions that still need a sample or drawing.

Quality Requirements

Quality planning starts with the approved sample and written specification. Agree on the relevant dimensions, workmanship, functional checks, material documentation and any requested testing before production. The inspection and document scope should match the product and destination market.

Order Quantities

Our factories review trial-order and replenishment quantities for the selected product. MOQ depends on materials, colors, sizes, branding, packaging and production setup; provide a quantity breakdown so we can evaluate a workable order.

From Quotation to Shipment

1. Inquiry and Consultation: Send the selected product references, proposed changes and written requirements. Use the RFQ checklist to organize the initial information.

2. Quote & Proposal: We review the product specification, quantity, branding and packaging, then prepare a quotation around the confirmed scope. Any information still needed for final pricing will be identified during the review.

3. Sample Confirmation: Agree on the sample purpose and review the materials, dimensions, construction, appearance and requested changes. Record approval before moving to production.

4. Production Follow-up: Agree on production milestones, inspection requirements and packaging approvals. Our team follows progress against the confirmed schedule and communicates changes that affect shipment planning.

5. Shipment Planning: Provide the destination and requested trade term. We review the freight route, delivery scope, and responsibilities for customs clearance and taxes before confirming a shipping arrangement.

Prepare Your Project for Review

See HBYT manufacturing and customization capabilities for the service scope, and the OEM versus ODM guide for the different development routes. Review sample approval and quality checkpoints for the selected product.

For follow-up orders, use the version and change checklist. Plan approval dependencies with the order timeline checklist, then contact HBYT with your item references and project brief.
